Loudoun Sketch Club Show at Carver Center

The staff at the Carver Center in Purcellville have invited the Sketch Club to show and sell work in February. The theme of the show is "Winter Hues." There is a very fine hanging system in their hall for approximately fifteen pieces of art. Pieces will be hung on a first-come-first-served basis and limited to one piece per person.

Please deliver your winter-themed, framed, labeled, priced work to the Carver Center at 200 Willie Palmer Way, Purcellville (571-258-3400) Tuesday, February 10. Jennifer Lumley or Beth Mills, Carver staff members, are coordinating the show. There are no entry or commission fees involved.

Bylaws Revision

The executive committee composed of elected officers and service volunteers met in January to review our current bylaws. Revised bylaws will be posted on our website in February. Please contact Aledra Hollenbach or Sarita Moffat with questions or concerns. All members will vote on approval of the revised edition at the business meeting in May.

Annual Loudoun Sketch Club Show

Plans are in effect for our annual show in May and June at the Loudoun County Government Center in Leesburg. Jean Kipfer and Jan Hundshamer have agreed to serve as coordinators of the show. Details will follow.

Remembering Wilma Fisher

Wilma Fisher served as president of the Loudoun Sketch Club from September, 2002 to September, 2003. Those of us who had the privilege of knowing Wilma know that she served the Sketch Club enthusiastically and tirelessly for years and years!

How many times did she and her husband, Roy, deliver our folding hanging system to show sites? She and Jean Kipfer faithfully coordinated our indoor sessions even when just the two of them attended. When Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center was only an idea, Wilma attended meetings to contribute ideas and represent the Sketch Club. Many of you enjoyed being in her home for club meetings and parties.

Her legacy of beautiful artwork, continually challenging herself to improve, welcoming others to participate, and being a friend continues to permeate our unique group of artists. We are grateful for Wilma.

- Aledra Hollenbach
President

Newsletter Editor

Inessa Lakey has served as our newsletter editor since November 2007 and this January/February edition is her last. We are very grateful for her service and the systems she has put into place to make communication easier.

Jean Kipfer has agreed to serve as our newsletter editor beginning with the March/April edition. Jean is an accomplished artist, author and coordinator of our indoor painting venue at the Carver Center in Purcellville. We are very fortunate to have had Inessa and now Jean to take on the position as editor. Contact Jean with news at jdkip@comcast.net.

Member Roster

In December I made an attempt to e-mail the club roster to everyone who had an e-mail address listed. This was independent of the Yahoo group we use. Many of you received it but some came back as undeliverable. If you did not receive it and would like to receive the roster, please send me an e-mail requesting it to vattermeyer@att.net and I will then have the correct address for delivery. Also, if you do not have e-mail, I will be happy to mail a copy to you. Give me a call at 1-703-560-2016 to request it.
